What does a musculoskeletal Podiatrist do?

First of all what is a Podiatrist? A Podiatrist is health care professional who specialises in the foot, ankle and lower limb.

What is a Musculoskeletal Podiatrist? A Podiatrist who considers the foot, ankle and lower limb and there interactions with external influences e.g. footwear and ground surface with relevance to the force that is transmitted to the foot and its effect on the lower limb's anatomy including muscles, tendons, ligaments and the skeleton.

This is sometimes referred to as a Biomechanical Podiatrist and the two terms are often used interchangeably, so what is biomechanics? Biomechanics in its broadest sense is the application of mechanical principles to biological systems. Within the foot and lower leg the application of mechanical principles is vital in addressing pain within the musculoskeletal system.
